Double Pole: A double-pole switch disconnects both the active and neutral wires when the power point is switched off. In comparison, a standard single-pole outlet generally switches only the active wire. This additional isolation is particularly important in caravans and motorhomes, where the electrical supply may come from various sources and the active and neutral polarity cannot always be guaranteed.
